Mauriziano Urban Regeneration

A community-driven regeneration project with strong governance, social inclusion and cultural growth, but with clear gaps in environmental sustainability and technological innovation.

Scroll down

The Mauriziano Project demonstrates how a formerly inactive space can be transformed into a vibrant, community-centred hub through strong governance, inclusive social dynamics and intergenerational engagement. The multidimensional impact assessment highlights remarkable progress in institutional, territorial, social and educational dimensions, while also revealing areas needing strategic development—particularly technology adoption, advanced environmental performance and long-term economic resilience.

Mauriziano Urban Regeneration

The multidimensional impact assessment of the Mauriziano Project reveals a solid and transformative initiative rooted in community participation, transparent governance and cultural vitality. The project has exceeded initial expectations in several areas: it established a robust and replicable governance model, fostered strong multistakeholder cooperation, strengthened territorial identity and generated inclusive cultural and educational opportunities for all age groups. These achievements have contributed to the creation of a cohesive and active collective subject that now plays a central role in local social life.

Despite these strengths, the assessment also identifies critical gaps. Environmental performance remains limited, with no measurable impact on emissions or CO₂ capture, and only basic waste-management improvements. Technological innovation is almost entirely absent, highlighting the need for future investments in digital tools and green infrastructure. Economic performance, although improved through regained self-sufficiency, still appears fragile in the long term.

Overall, the project emerges as a strong example of community-led regeneration, with significant positive outcomes but also clear opportunities for strategic strengthening—particularly in ecological transition, technological modernization and financial resilience.
