The workshop aims to implement the discussion on the potential of urban commons, particularly cultural heritage, as an enabling tool for the sustainability of territories, not only through the involvement of local communities but by offering spaces, skills, tools and ideas for innovation aimed at sustainable development and improving the social and economic conditions of inhabitants and users in vulnerable neighborhoods. The cornerstones guiding the project and development mentioned before are the following: Elinor Ostrom's approach to the study of the commons, civic solidarity and collaboration, which is mentioned in the in Article 2 of the Italian Constitution, the effort to make cities and communities sustainable (SDG11) and the model of heritage communities outlined by the Council of Europe's Faro Convention. The project and its future development will be in line with the strategic goals outlined at both the EU and national levels with special reference to Next Generation EU, the European Union's long-term budget 2021-2027, and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
